Hi - My name is Raunak. I am currently a senior in Higschool, but have a high aptitude for English. I am currently the captain of my Policy Debate team, worked with a nonprofit called "Read a Story" to help village children in India learn English, and have achieved a 5 on this years AP Literature exam (less than 7% of people that take the exam score this high).
I have seen tremendous success through being able to thinking through things in a more unique manner that goes against the grain of dominant thought. What I hope to be able to do is help the student be able to not only be able to do well in the class, but to be able to thrive and excel. I believe that through working with me, the student will be able to expand the way that htey would normally think of things and be able to add that "wow" factor.
But outside of just the classroom, I hope to help cultivate students that will be able to export their skills in the real world too. For me, I have lectured other debaters, am getting involved with local grassroot campaigns, and also been invited to host webinars as part of Silicon Valley Youth Climate Strike.
For me, English has transformed my way of thinking and how I relate to the world. My goal is to help provide the student with the same transformative experience.
The moment when a student finally understands something they were confused about is one of the most rewarding moments in my work.
Raunak was the best English Tutor I have had. Other tutors always liked to talk down to me and tell me what to do. I never really learnt anything, but Raunak was different. He facilitated a healthy learning experience where I could learn things for myself and treated me as an equal.
Raunak was very down to earth and was never paternalistic. My grades saw a huge jump and I also developed a new way of reading and interperting literature.
When working with a new student, the first question I always ask is why are you here and what do you want to get better and focus on. This allows me to tailor my curriculum and how I help the student to whatever is the most beneficial for them.
I understand that tutors often times are innaccessible and too expensive which is why my rates are $30 - 40/ hour. However, if this is too expensive for students with precarious financial situations, I'm more than happy to talk to you and see how we can make things more affordable.
