About
My unique contribution is that I can help you learn to love writing instead of dreading it. Besides having an MA degree in English from the University of Virginia which is one of the top universities in English in the USA, I also have MA degrees in Psychology and Theology and have an MS degree in Clinical Psychology. This additional education means that I know how to deal with writing anxiety psychologically as well as technically through teaching you English skills. I have taken graduate level courses in English education and have used the techniques that I have learned, especially in teaching writing to help students raise their grades from Cs to As. You will be surprised to find that when your fear of writing decreases, your writing ability and fluency will increase dramatically.
I also have special computer software that allows me to both hear and see the words at the same time. By allowing you to use this software, it will help you to increase proofreading ability. When you hear your words out loud, you will learn to become more objective about them and will be able to correct your errors with ease. By becoming more objective about your writing, you will become less anxious about it and what your teachers or professors think about your ability.
In the past, I was a TA in undergraduate Psychology and helped students with their writing. I also helped professors edit their journal articles. In the teaching area, I have tutored students in English and writing skills from the elementary school to the graduate school levels. To help facilitate learning, I have used audio-visual material and have used the Internet. Given my education and experience, I feel confident that I can help you with your English and writing skills.
I love working with students individually and helping them grow and achieve. I also enjoy tackling problems that they may have by finding creative solutions
