ESL Tutoring - Friendly And Patient!
About
Hello! My name is Gaia. In college I became TESL certified and in 2017, I became a full-time online English tutor. In 2018 I was given the title of "Super Tutor" with a rating of 4.9 out of 5! I've had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students all over the world. Most of my students have been from:
KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Turkey
S. Korea, Japan, China
Brazil
Since then, I have helped students practice their English skills for job interviews, Visa interviews, IELTS exams, university studies, work, fluency and self-improvement. I also enjoy reading, writing, and conversation practice. My greatest joy is watching students improve and gain the confidence they need to succeed.

I absolutely love getting to know my students. Most of my students are women who are mothers, businesswomen, students, or stay-at-home-moms. I have loved teaching them over the last 3 years and have really treasured the moments we've had together. I love sharing our cultures, backgrounds, stories, and daily lives all while improving their English confidence and skills. Confidence is at the heart of my teaching and most students, especially women, find that once they become more confident they can learn and speak better!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first talk with my student for a few minutes to establish their level. I then help them make goals and set a method (for example: Let's read for 20 minutes, review vocabulary as we go, and then have a conversation about what we read). I am flexible and patient and if we need to change any goals or methods in the future, we can always do that!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am TEFL certified
I have almost 3 years of full-time tutoring experience.
I provide free online English learning resources through my Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is $45 per hour, however, if you have a genuine hardship and you would like me to be your tutor, please contact me and I will do my best to help.
How did you get started teaching?
I graduated with my BA and decided to work from home online so that I can be with my family more (especially my baby girl!).
What types of students have you worked with?
My students are a huge blessing to me! I've had students from every continent! Most of my students have been from the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. Most of my students are over the age of 18 but I have taught children in the past! Kids are wonderful, but I enjoy teaching adults because I love to learn about their culture and history. I also enjoy helping them achieve their goals which are usually surrounding their business, travel, or studies.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am a new mom (my baby is 8 months old) and recently I have been getting a lot of requests from other new mothers. It has been so nice getting to know them and discussing our mutual struggles and joys as parents and giving one another advice!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you find someone who is patient and pays attention to what you want. Make sure they are honest and if they can't help you that they tell you! When someone is patient with you you will feel comfortable and be able to focus better.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be realistic with your goals and make sure you have an idea of what you want. Make sure that you are serious about learning before you start. There is no problem if you have to change your plans after you start, but sometimes students have no idea what they want and they are not very interested in learning in the first place. These students are difficult to teach!
