UC Berkeley Student For Tutoring Help
About
My name is Emma and I'm a college student at UC Berkeley with volunteer tutoring experience. I have volunteer tutored elementary, middle school, and high school aged children in a variety of subjects. I can also help with general study aid and tips for organization, time management, etc.
I also have taught ESL to people from all over the world.
I believe in helping to empower the student I tutor to feel more comfortable in their own understanding of the material and ability to complete their work. My goal is to help students step outside of the stress that weighs them down and begin to calmly and intentionally move forward with their work.
I also often help my 14 year old (9th grade) sister with her coursework in each of her classes.
I love to teach and I am passionate about education. I believe that all students can succeed and I love to do what I can to not only help them achieve success, but to believe that they can continue to do so.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to talk with the student and see where they feel their strengths and weaknesses lie in whatever subject we are working on. I like to understand where they get frustrated and help them methodically work through those areas. Practice is the most important thing, so I do lots of practice with students, beginning with more guided until they feel confident on their own.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have some experience volunteer tutoring students in elementary, middle, and high school. I graduated myself from high school only 5 years ago. I remember what it is like to be in those shoes. I was a successful student, graduating with a 4.0 (4.6) GPA and I am now a student at UC Berkeley. My major is Cognitive Science with minors in Linguistics and Spanish.
I have also taught ESL to people from all over the world and love to help with language learning
