About
I have over 40 years of full time teaching all levels of mathematics at several high schools, and I have tutored many students throughout my teaching career. I have excellent success with my students. I have experience in teaching all levels of math, physics and chemistry and I am California Credentialed in those subjects. All my students understand my method of delivery and are highly successful.
I enjoy seeing students tell me that they get it, and it shows with their high success rate in their testing and their overall grade.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I make the student feel at ease by saying that I can help them succeed and that I have a way to make it easy for them to understand the material, no matter how difficult it may seem to them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 38 years of teaching experience in the Los Angeles area as a high school math/physics/chemistry teacher, including 8 years as a math coach, which means I guided and coached math teachers on how to teach math to high school students. I worked at many high schools including Mira Costa, Bishop Montgomery, Redondo Union, Elizabeth Learning Center, and King Drew Medical Magnet.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge according to the length of the session the client wants. I try to keep it one session a week, unless more is needed.
How did you get started teaching?
I was educated in Melbourne, Australia and got my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in physics. I went on to get a Diploma in Education with emphasis on teaching math and physics and taught in a private high school in my first year of teaching. I then came to Los Angeles in 1981 and got offered a job as a physics and math teacher at a private high school in Bellflower. I moved on to other high schools teaching math, physics and chemistry.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many students with many levels ranging from grade 9 through grade 12, and with different ethnicities and different socioeconomic backgrounds. I believe every student can succeed.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was in charge of setting up an after school tutoring program for all subjects and levels at Elizabeth Learning Center. I had both teachers and students attending and a lot of students were successful in passing their classes with excellent grades.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice is to make sure the tutor has a lot of experience in teaching their subject and with many different levels of students. They must be patient and have many ways of presenting the material.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Questions such as what part of the lesson or unit the student did not understand, and what can the teacher do to help and guide the student through the misunderstandings.
