Eric Bedarfas, M.S. In Mathematics, Tutor
About
As a math tutor tending to the needs of college and high school students, I like to emphasize conceptual understanding rather than brute force memorization. Teachers often have their students memorize meaningless formulas like robots; my approach is to teach where the formula comes from so that the student has a deeper understanding.
I fell in love with math when I was taking Algebra 2 in high school. Now I have a Master's Degree in Mathematics from UC Irvine. It's been a long journey, and I've learned a lot on the way. I have a special expertise and in-depth understanding of mathematics that very few people have, and I want to share my knowledge with as many students as possible.
I have been tutoring since 2014, and the most rewarding thing has been seeing the seeds of understanding I had planted blossom.
When my brother was homeschoolled in 8th grade, I was his math and physics teacher for the entire year. Now that he's in high school, seeing him succeed is very rewarding. "Eric taught me this already," he'll often say, breezing through a chapter which is difficult for other students.
