About
Hello! My name's Ailun (pronounced Allen), and I'm an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley double major in biology + business along with a minor in creative writing.
I've tutored students and peers for over five years now, and I'd be absolutely delighted to help you in your studies.
Math: I scored an 800 out of 800 on the SAT Math II and a 5 out of 5 on AP Calculus AB. I'm available to help in any and all math subjects (including AP Statistics) up to AP Calculus AB.
English: English is my second language as I learned Mandarin first, so I know exactly how hard it can be to master a new language. I tested out of ESL in third grade after first being exposed to the language in kindergarten. Since then, I've scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP English Language Exam and am a nationally recognized creative writer with works and speeches publicized on TED, Germ Magazine, LA Times High School Insider, and elsewhere.
Biology: I scored a 5 out of 5 on the AP Biology exam and was president of my school's Biology Club, where we trained for the US Biology Olympiad.
Test Prep: I took 14 AP classes in total, am a National AP Scholar, and received the AP Capstone Diploma. I scored in the top 1% for the ACT and am a National Merit Commended Scholar (top 3% in the PSAT).
I've been a traditional tutor, and I have worked as a sensei in Code Ninjas, where I teach kids of various ages different science subjects. I've even taught elementary school kids watered down versions of topics taught in high school AP courses! I love seeing someone's eyes light up from finally understanding a subject they've been having difficulty to grasp because I've absolutely struggled with that, too.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If it's your first time with me as your tutor, don't worry! You can reach out to me via text, and we can figure out a study plan that works best for you. I want to make sure that you're able to get a quality tutoring experience tailored specially for you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've worked as a Biology Sensei at my local Code Ninjas for over a year. There, I design lab experiments and teach various little mini lessons to kids ages 6 through 14, so I'm used to teaching all different kids in all sorts of subjects. I've also tutored middle and high school students the past year in subjects including Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Biology.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching when I first started my job at Code Ninjas, and I haven't stopped since!
