What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am focused on teaching a method, a thought process.
I very much prefer that students do not memorize solutions, but rather understand how to get to the solution.
Learn how to think will help students in any difficulty.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Master and Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering (4.0 GPA).
In 2019, I obtained the Math Open House Award from the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering dep at UCSD for improving equity in engineering education.
I 2018, I completed the Pathway to Scientific Teaching certificate where I learned to develop and implement state-of-the-art learner-centered instructional materials and teaching strategies for both large and small courses.
How did you get started teaching?
I am tutoring students since 2013.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Focus on the method the teacher will try to use. Prefer someone that will help you to amass the though process.
