Hyland English And Social Studies Tutoring
About
Although I am only seventeen-years-old, I'm currently a sophomore attending Antelope Valley College for my associate's degree in psychology. At AVC, I'm an English tutor who specializes in helping students revise their papers and work on grammar. I can tutor English (anywhere from elementary to college level), psychology, history, and communications/speech classes. I'm familiar with online tutoring, by using Zoom, and I respond quickly to emails and text messages. I also have access to various college resources to help my students. Another neat thing is that I recently received my first level of my CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) certification, which is an internationally recognized organization.
As a psychology major, I really enjoy working with students of all ages. It's my passion in life to be able to positively influence the lives of my tutees and help them pass their classes. My favorite part of my work is that I get to see my students grow as a learner and as a writer.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I start working with a new student, I take the first lesson to get to know the student and to make an individualised learning plan that will help them succeed in the areas that they are struggling in. Throughout the lessons after that, your student and I will work through any questions they have about certain subjects, work through homework, work on reading and writing skills, develop their critical thinking skills, and help them build a solid foundation for English and Social Studies classes.
