As a tutor, my aim is to do everything I can to help my students achieve their goals, and I take a personal interest in each of my students. I find out your interests and goals and personalize each lesson to match your learning style and needs. My past students have said that I am patient, enthusiastic, skilled, dedicated, “a great teacher” and “a gifted educator.”
I am trained and experienced in tutoring and teaching English, ESL, Language Arts, Spanish and test preparation. I have been an educator for the past twelve years. Please read below under My Skills, Experience and Educational Background for more information.
The most satisfying aspect of my work is helping my students overcome their challenges and go on to achieve mastery of their subject. I enjoy helping students learn to express themselves more clearly and compellingly in writing and speaking. I also love helping students to gain full understanding of what they read, whether it be fiction, plays, poetry or nonfiction. Finally, as a tutor, I am excited to lead students toward a love of the English and Spanish languages, two of the most beautiful languages on earth.

Ms Marie was very patient with our daughter and made reading exciting for our Child, She got interested to learn more about different animals and wanted to share new information after the class. I would recommend Ms Marie to anyone who is looking to get there child interested in reading.
Marie is one of the most thoughtful, patient, and caring people I have ever met. She first started tutoring me in high school Spanish, a subject that I despised - yet somehow, she always found ways to make it as interesting and engaging as it could have been for me. Thinking back on that time, I have to say: her patience and creativity knows no bounds. Later in high school, she became my go-to person for help with everything from starting a school mental health club to my history essays, from my English assignments to my deepest existential questions. I could always count on her for a supportive, insightful discussion; she makes sure she tends to the emotional as well as the academic components of her students’ struggles in any given subject. Marie also helped me tremendously with my search for the right college, and guided me through the process of filling out applications and writing application essays, which ultimately led to me being admitted into the college of my choice! In the years since then, I have always been able to go to Marie for help with writing papers and navigating through college coursework. It’s hard to say exactly when it happened, but somewhere along the line Marie became more than simply a tutor: she’s been my mentor figure, bettering me academically but also bettering me as a person.
Marie was a very thoughtful teacher. Based on my experience, I would say she is using traditional methods of teaching English. I will definitely recommend her for kids, students and beginners.
Thank you so much for all your prep for our lessons! And for planning the lessons around my needs. I enjoyed every session while making good progress with my Spanish!
I offer a free in-person or online consultation so that the student (and parents) and I can meet. This gives everyone a chance to ask questions before starting lessons. During this session, I informally evaluate the student’s needs and we set preliminary goals. If applicable, I also review the student’s academic work. Some of this process can also be done over the phone or by email if preferred.
