Hello! My name is Madeline Lopez-Elwell, I have helped kids ages 4 to 16 with basic reading and writing skills. As well as, helping with vocabulary and proof reading. I have also helped my peers in class with communication, if they have trouble speaking in formal settings or with public speaking. I also am able to help with different learning styles (i.e. learning with visuals, songs, etc.).
As someone who learns using different styles, I love to help others who might find it difficult to learn in a tradition classroom. I also love to help people become better writers and readers.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student with normal questions like: What's your favorite movie or song? What's your favorite book? I let the student get to know me as well, they could ask the same questions or different ones. I like to keep the introductions conversation-like, because it helps with vocabulary and comunication skills. From there I get to know what they what to work on, perhaps it something from class or something they want to personally want to work on and get better at. Then when the session comes to an end I would give tips that would help them with reading and writing skills.
