I am a current Bioengineering major at UCLA. I realize that math is not easy for everyone, but it can be understood by everyone with a little work. Everyone has different learning styles and the key to understanding math is figuring out which learning style works best for each individual.
I love helping students to feel comfortable with math. Seeing someone's eyes light up when they finally understand a concept is always the highlight of every tutoring session.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first met a new student I like to assess how they are currently doing in their class. I start off with asking how they feel they are doing in their class and what they think their biggest strength and weakness is. From there I ask a few more questions about their study habits and then will jump straight into some problems to see their process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently at UCLA studying engineering and have already completed all of my math requirements. During high school I achieved straight A's and graduated with a 4.52 gpa. In addition, I took psychology and specifically studied different learning techniques and theories which I will be glad to use and explain during sessions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the frequency, course level, session length and if there is a travel component the price will set.
As a first time 1 hour session price will be $25.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching pretty much since I started learning. Whenever classmates needed help, I was there to help even if I had just learned the material right next to them. Eventually I formally started volunteering to tutor underclassmen in high school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels and ages of students. For example, I have tutored college students and kindergarten students alike.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say that the first and foremost adivce would be to find someone who believes in you and motivates you to learn. Secondly, I would suggest finding someone who has had experience struggling to understand something at one point in their life so that they understand where you are at. Lastly, I would say that you want to find someone who understands that there is not a one size fits all to learning.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about what they want out of tutoring(to pass and exam, to gain confidence in a subject, to build a good foundation for later). They should also consider what teaching styles work best for them.
