Bio
Hi my name is Luana and I currently have 96 quarter units, Junior standing at UCR. I have credits in two AA's, Behavioral Science and Sociology and I am 2 classes away from achieving a 3rd AA. I am dependable, honest, and personable. I think that education is essential and important for the well being of the society that we live in and I strive to make this world a better place for the future of humanity. I have tutored K-12 with an emphasis in mathematics. The whole world can be looked at in a mathematical context. It is essential to learn how math relates to the real world. For example the trajectory of an object, the way we build architectural structures, and even the patterns in the way that plants grow. Math is relative and essential in our world. There are many laws or rules that need to be implemented in a learning.
I have tutored kids from 4th grade through 12th grade. I access each student individually. My checklist includes academics, grades, social skills and any emotional or developmental issues that my student may need help with. I provide structured lessons with motivation, routine, and focus
I believe that I would be a good tutor because I have some certifications, which can assure your company as well as parents that I have the qualifications to teach certain subjects. I also have experience in working with children of various ages in many different subjects. I am also extremely adaptable. Giving students a different perspective may enable them to learn a subject in a manner that may not have been alternatively successful. Every student has the ability to learn anything they want as long as the appropriate opportunity is presented.
I have always been good at math. I learned this at a young age as I was always helping my friends with their math work. I have taken classes at UCR up to Calculus. I have tutored many children of different ages.

I enjoy helping others. I feel a satisfaction from tutoring and educating others when I see them go from struggling to being successful. I enjoy seeing others achieve their goals. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I first do an assessment of where they stand academically in their class. I then contact the teacher and ensure parents are aware of where their child stands, if parent involvement is necessary.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently have 96 units at UCR and I have worked for Grade Potential, Prep Tech Pros and Sylvan.
