I am currently and have been a college lecturer for San Jose State University for over 20 years. In that time I have graded lots of papers. I check for spelling,grammar,content and language. My strengths are in helping students finds their voice and in helping them find the appropriate words to express themselves. I also specialize in idea development and mindmapping which is a technique for assisting someone with planning out their paper before they write it. I also specialize in editing.
My services are for k-12 students, middle school stduents, high school student, college students and those in graduate and professional school. I also assist with Master thesis' and PhD disertation.
I enjoy the interaction with students and I enjoy the successes we have together as we collaborate creatively. I also enjoy the part where they come and show me their good grades and A-papers !

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to listen to students express themselves and then feed it back to them in an effort to assist them with fine tuning their ideas before they put those ideas to paper.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Economics and MA in Education. I currently an a college counselor at San Jose state and have been one for 25 years. I also teach academic success classes which focus on critical thinking, idea generation for writing papers, time management and paper editing.

My pricing system is $50 per hour then $25 each additional hour.
How did you get started teaching?
While at San Jose State I was asked to teach courses for college freshmen by the Dean of the college of science. Later on I got my Masters in education and am currently teaching in the college of education at San Jose State University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with K-12 students, college students, students in Masters programs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that they are flexible and can accomodate your learning style. Make sure that they communciate well and can understand you as a person.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be clear on what they want the outcome of the interaction to be between them and the tutor or teacher. Is your goal to generate ideas for a paper? Is your goal to have a paper proof read? What is your goal and what do you expect from the interaction?
