Hello student and/or parent,
I am a current English student at Stanislaus State University who is looking to expand my teaching experience outside of the classroom as a Substitute teacher. I am wanting to help students one on one with their English troubles and build them to be confident in their reading and writing. I am passionate about English and feel that this deep love for books and writing makes me a perfect fit for teaching others! I have many techniques and tricks I have learned over the years that will undoubtedly help you as well! I have been tutoring in this subject for 5 years, have an English AA & BA degree, and work as a substitute teacher. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Step 1. Having a session where I get to know more about the student. Including, but not limited to; their interests, strong areas, problem areas, ability level in the content area. I then assess through a couple of activities what form of teaching they best learn from (visual, audio, hands on, etc.)
Step 2. I help them with the material in the content area and give them the skills they will need in future learning to solve problems they face in their learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an English AA degree, an English BA degree, and a substitute teaching certificate/experience. I have also been tutoring in the English field for 5 years.

Pricing on my service depends upon the students needs and the type of service being requested.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a passion for English and therefore I am in the process of becoming an English teacher. I know reading and writing troubles some students and isn't their interests but I feel with the right teacher and learning tools they can learn to do well!
What types of students have you worked with?
Kindergarten through College.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A teacher can only help a student as much as that student is willing to learn. I can not complete your assignment or get you an A in your class, I can only give you the tools and guidance for you to learn from and apply to your work!
