I have deep compassion for students and parents during this unprecedented time we are all facing with school closures. I understand the nuances in shifting from in person learning to online learning, especially for the younger learners. I specialize in online tutoring/remediation and have a current opening for one more student. I have researched and implemented the most effective and engaging online tools to recreate the in person tutoring experience.
I have over 18 years experience with teaching elementary aged children reading and math, both in the classroom as well as 1:1. My area of expertise is with struggling learners, regardless of whether or not they have an identified learning disability. I implement research based methods: direct, systematic, multisensory instruction, pulling from a variety of Orton-Gillingham inspired programs.
I truly love what I do and I look forward to scheduling our first meeting to find out more about what your child is struggling with and how I can help.
She is the best teacher ever. Before I tried other teachers, but I didn’t see any progress. She is helping my son with math and ELA. My son loves to work with her, always helpful and professional! I highly recommend Sherri!
Your tutoring services impacted Landen not only academically, but emotionally. Academically you helped his SRI score go from a zero, to over one thousand, along with getting him into honors classes once he entered junior high. Emotionally you helped build his self esteem and made him realize he was capable of anything he put his mind to. Your services exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have been any happier, and we’d absolutely continue recommending your services to others. You’re different than other tutors because you care about your students and do absolutely everything to make sure they succeed from your services. You’re constantly building the students up, while challenging them at the same time.I could go on and on for days about all the wonderful qualities you have. You have forever changed Landen’s academic path, and we can’t thank you enough. You have a heart of gold, that does nothing but genuinely give to others. We’re so blessed to have had you by Landen’s side for so many years, and we’re forever grateful.
When I am first contacted by a new family, I offer a free phone or online consultation. The initial meeting with a student is a comprehensive assessment. It is for me to get to know your child's areas of strength and weakness to guide instruction. As most of my students suffer from some amount of "school anxiety" due to their struggles, I take some time to get to know my students and build their trust in me as well as in themselves to become capable and curious learners.
Each student is a unique individual, and will require an individualized plan. The brain learns by repetition, and each student learns at a different rate; therefore, after I have conducted an assessment, I partner with parents to discuss frequency of sessions and goals for their child.
