I am an experienced, credentialed math teacher who has helped hundreds of students learn math. I have taught a variety of math courses in alignment with the Common Core State Standards at Beechwood Middle School, Tustin High School, and Culver City Middle School. I teach math online (grades 4-12) for Sage Oak Charter schools.
My experience teaching in the classroom and online has allowed me to develop effective strategies to help students learn math. Math is a foundational subject, and this is why I chose to get a teaching credential to teach foundation-level mathematics to help students have the foundation they need to succeed in math.
Every student benefits significantly from one-to-one math tutoring from an experienced math teacher. This is why I have an online math tutoring business called "Math Tutoring with Stephanie."

I enjoy meeting students where they are in their academics and creating pathways to help them get to where they need to be according to grade-level standards. Most of all, I get excited when the light bulb goes off for a student, and a math concept finally makes sense to them. It is a joy to have a front-row seat in witnessing a student get to a place where they can confidently walk me through the application of a math concept on their own!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I begin working with a new student, I will provide a free pre-assessment to identify any gaps in learning that the student may have, as well as see what math concepts they already understand.
I will also collaborate with the parent to learn more about the student's needs and ask them what outcome they want to achieve from tutoring.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in Mathematics (California State University, Fullerton)
-CA Single Subject Teaching Credential in Foundation-Level Mathematics (California State University, Fullerton)

I charge $60/hour for online math tutoring.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you get a tutor who is not only an expert in the level of math you need but who understands how to teach math. Some math tutors only know how to explain how they learned math, but a credentialed and experienced teacher will understand how to teach math in various ways to address different learning needs.
