Elementary Schoolwork Improvement
About
I tutor students based on their individual needs and learning styles. Every student is unique in their own way, making their learning experience special and tailored to them. I focus on tutoring elementary aged students as this is where I have the most experience. I have been teaching and tutoring students since I was a student in high school. Through internships, volunteering at local elementary schools, and helping students of a foreign language with their literacy skills, I have gained extensive knowledge not just about general education subjects, but also how to effectively teach them. I have a TESL certificate that certifies me to teach English to foreign language students and I am also a college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from SDSU.
Since I was a child myself, I always loved teaching and spreading knowledge. I was not always the fastest learner growing up, but have always been eager to learn and want to instill that motivation in my students. My favorite part about teaching is the light bulb that you see go off in a student’s head when they finally learn something they have been struggling with. It is so rewarding to not just educate a student, but to also get them excited about learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically when working with a new student I focus on what their learning styles are and get to know how they learn as a student so that I can effectively teach them in a way that benefits them most. Knowing how a student processes information is helpful in getting them to comprehend material. For example, if a student is more of a visual learner I can use that to their advantage by using pictures or graphs to represent information.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a TESL Certificate that certifies me to teach English to foreign language students. I also have a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from San Diego State University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students in grades K-5 as well as with students who speak foreign languages.
