Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I go through a student's work and ask them what they are sturggling on. I assist them in that topic until they understand it. Then I help them move forward with other topics they need help with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a Math Major at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), and have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal State Long Beach. This helped me get started as a math tutor. I have tutored privately and for universities for 5+ years. The places I have tutored at are: CSUDH, Long Beach Community College, Mathnasium, Love and Unity Christian Fellowship, and platforms: HeyTutor and WhizTutor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
There is no standard price. The price is determined on the distance to student and the subject the student needs help in. I will work with the student to come to an agreement.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching/tutoring as a college student. I needed to make some extra money for books and I was really good at math. One of my advisors recommended I do tutoring. I started tutoring at the college level and I loved it. I loved helping students understand something when they did not understand it before.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with middle, elementary, high school, college students, and even tutored firefighters. I have tutored students with dyslexia. I also help my family members like my cousins and relatives from time to time. I can tutor any student in my subject who is willing to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very grateful to have Thanksgiving with my family where we can come together and not have to worry about the world around us. I love how we are present with ourselves and be in communion with one another.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
