Math is not everyone's favorite subject, which is understandable given how it is usually taught, but I have found that with the right instructor and a little perseverance anyone can understand math in a way that enriches their lives. I am very skilled at breaking down complex ideas into simple to understand concepts. I focus on making sure my students have a firm grasp of the basics of each subject. By doing this it helps my students to understand the more complex ideas that are built on those basic concepts and it gives them the ability to adapt those basics ideas to solve new and more complex problems. Through all my teaching I stay focused on practical applications. Math can be rather abstract but by focusing on its practical uses I allow my strudents to understand math as well as they do any other subject. My ultimate goal is for my student to understand the material well enough to teach me.
As a tutor my job often involves helping students who are stuggling to understand the lessons they are being taught. It is very uplifting to see the pride and confidence of my students grow when they finally understand something that they have struggled with for a while. I enjoy seeing my student grow in their skills, ability, and self-assurance as things begin to fall into place. I am also encourage by how grateful people are when they learn something new. I take pride in being able to help my students gain the skills and confidence they need to advance and progress in their lives.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I get a new student my main focus is getting to know who they are. My job as a tutor is work with my students way of thinking, not against it, and by doing that I am able to help them understand what they are learning in thier own unique way and help learn to make their unique preferences work to their advantage. I next try to gage the students relationship to the subject matter. Are they having trouble with the subject itself or just the teachers way of teaching? Are they interested in the subject or just trying to get through it? Are they trying to catch up or just trying not to fall behind? All these different circumstances will require a different approach so I adjust my teaching suit the needs of my student.
