What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before we meet with a new student in person or online, we always have an intake call To assess what the students needs are. If it's for standardized test taking, has the student taken the test before? Have they received any prep? Is this their first time and where are their strengths and weaknesses. Then, we will likely schedule a diagnostic test online. If it's for academic tutoring, we want to speak with the student regarding his or her past successes and weaknesses in the class and what their goals are.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My company, The A-List tutoring services, has been in business in Los Angeles for 15 years. I attended the prestigious all girls college preparatory school, Marlborough, and UCLA. I have been teaching privately and in the classroom since I graduated from school. I teach study skills workshops, and specialize in college admissions. All of our tutors have at least a bachelors degree and the related field. They are all highly specialized, well educated, and love working with students.

How did you get started teaching?
While a student at UCLA, I began tutoring and I absolutely loved it. When I graduated, I started the A-List tutoring services with a fellow classmate of mine from Marlborough. Our business grew very fast and we expanded from academic tutoring to standardized test tutoring as well as K through 12 admissions consulting for independent schools and college admissions. Working privately with students is incredibly satisfying. Being able to give a student that extra attention allows a teacher to have a very strong success rate.
