My high school was rather advanced when it came to academics ... math—was particularly difficult for me. Kristina, said tutor, and I hit off the sessions really well and got along nicely, which made the tutoring even more productive. She always made sure to create a lesson plan, which was based off of materials that my teacher would provide to her via email. Each session would cover the homework assigned as well as the content for the next class. Thus, I had a very solid understanding of the material ahead of time and was able to really utilize that knowledge during class and understand the material on a deeper level.
After a while of tutoring, I started to notice how my grades were beginning to improve. This visible progress inspired more enthusiasm and confidence, which allowed me to appreciate calculus, more than I was before. By the end of the year, I scored a 100 on the final exam given to the class—a feat that was definitely not possible without Kristinas amazing support.
Kristina definitely is one of the best tutors I’ve had or seen. In my opinion, a great deal of her effectiveness as a teacher comes from her ability to adjust her teaching style to her individual students needs. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help with classes in her area of expertise, as she is a great teacher and great person!

Asking for help sometimes can be difficult. I was welcomed with open arms to Kristinas tutoring services. No question I asked was a stupid question. For problems that I needed extra help with she was able to explain it to me as many times as necessary, even up to five times, with zero frustration and complete consideration of the difficulties I was having. Kristina was able to assist me with college-level General Chemistry, particularly in fine-tuning my problem solving and test taking skills to get those simple extra points! Learning can be easy with a great teacher. She makes it very easy for video chatting tutoring and is very understandable of your schedule. Bottom line, tutoring doesnt get any better than this!

I have worked with a few tutors in the past and I can honestly say that Kristina was by far the best. Kristina really has a passion for learning and she is able to share her passion with her students. Moreover, she truly has a deep understanding for the subjects she teaches allowing her to efficiently teach. She is able to break down the material and make it extremely easy to understand. Kristina helped me prepare for the AP Calculus exam and she helped me pinpoint my weaknesses and strengths. She helped me become familiar with the test, which ultimately led to my success on the exam. Most importantly, Kristina truly cares about her students and she is really able to connect with them. Each and every one of my lessons with Kristina were enjoyable. She is an amazing tutor!!!

Frequently asked questions

I am offering free consultations (in-person or online) for new students, so that we can get to know each other and decide if it is the right fit before making any commitments. I will determine the learning style of the student and adjust my teaching methods accordingly. In many cases I will provide multiple problem solving pathways (particularly useful in the case of mathematics) and allow the student to chose what works best for them. Learn it your way with Your Way Tutors!

Bio: Columbia University, 2012, major in Earth and Environmental Engineering, graduated Magna Cum Laude; Member of Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honor Society; King’s Crown Leadership Award 2010-12; 750 on Chemistry SAT II, Score of 5 on AP exams in U.S History, Chemistry, and BC Calculus.

Kristina’s passion for education was already in evidence when she was a student at North Shore High School in Glen Head, NY.  She tutored her peers in Earth Science, Chemistry, and Algebra, working in conjunction with the National Honor Society—a national organization dedicated to honoring and promoting student academic excellence and service—to help them achieve academic success.  She excelled in her own academic studies at North Shore, graduating third in her class.

At Columbia, Kristina continued to hone her advanced math and science skills as part of her rigorous engineering training and while tutoring Columbia students in Math and Engineering.  Her research and demanding coursework provided invaluable experience in collaboration, organization, and innovative thinking.  Adding to her tough academic and tutoring schedule, Kristina joined an a cappella group and served as President of the Columbia University Food Sustainability Project, which helped her become an expert in working efficiently and effectively, managing time for herself and her students.

Kristina connects to her students by conveying advanced subject matter in simple, straightforward terms.  She works hard to both identify and address gaps in her students’ comprehension.  Her subject areas of expertise include Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, History, English, Environmental Science, and Statistics. She is also trained and experienced in helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and GRE.

While she has a strong work ethic, she is also a fun-loving person and hopes to exude this attitude in all her tutoring lessons. A bit of an over-achiever, Kristina doesn’t have much downtime. But when she does, she can be found gardening, practicing yoga, or cooking with friends.
