Tutoring students are always a pleasure. Its not all about teaching them academics but its also about getting to know the student on a personal level. Learning about their likes and dislikes, earning their trust so that they are more opened to express their troubles or concerns with a problem. Many at first are embarrassed or scared to ask because they think it reflects them as a person. However we always take the time to make sure they feel safe with us. They are opened to ask any questions they have and if we see that they are getting stressed, we take a breather and talk about things that relaxes them and we go back to tackling the problem we were struggling with. This whole process is a journey. We learn from each other and grow together. We emphasize the face that we are a team because the tutor can't pull the student to do what they need to do. We encourage the student to find the motivation and we push on together!

Frequently asked questions

First day is a very relaxing time for both of us. We get to know each other, ask questions about their goals and what they are looking to improve on during our session together. We are a strong believer in trust. The tutor and student are a team! We are to learn from our mistakes and we encourage them to not be afraid to make them. We go over how to use ZOOM and go over the materials needed before we begin. We teach note taking skills and emphasize the importance of communication.

As a collective we have tutored students for almost 10 years. Starting from bilingual students who needs help speaking English, to high school seniors with Autism. We are always opened to learn from the students and our hope is that they enjoy their time with us and are encouraged to push forward and not give up.

We have also taught students overseas in Indonesia for 6 months, where the ABC were taught very differently (pronunciation-wise). By the end of our mission trip, we were able to converse fluently.

Our basic pricing is $50 for elementary students and $60 for middle school and $70 for High schoolers.

Traveling adds $5

Students with special needs adds $5-$10 depending on how much more work is put into getting the studends to focus.

All terms are negotiable and we are opened to listen to any special circumstances if any.

Began tutoring in high school through the Word of mouth, and since then we have tutored over 30+ students of all ages. We began with teaching students who have come to America for the first time, teaching them how to pronounciate and enunciate their words and we have taught students of all ages from preschool to High school seniors with English.

We have experience working with students of all ages and with students with special needs. We've had students with depression, Adhd, OCD, Anxiety, Autism, suicidal, and etc. we believe no matter who the student is, communication and trust with the student AND the parent is a MUST. We cannot say this enough: we are a team!

There was this one student with high autism. He was unable to focus. Once he becomes fixated on one thing, it is nearly impossible to get him to listen to anything you have to say let alone get him to continue working. So multiple times I had to encourage him to stay with me and focus but he was unable to stop his obsession. This led to calling the mother who was at work and during this time, the student was begging me to not do so. However as a tutor it was my job to teach the student what was not acceptable. During the call, the mother expressed her concerns to the student and told him that she would take away yet another one of his games and he was absolutely devastated. This was not the outcome I was preferred so I kindly asked the mother if we can instead encourage good behavior rather than focus on punishing the bad. So we all agreed that if he were to focus for the remainder of the time, the mom would return the game she initially took away. And so the rest of the session went by without another incident and the student began to respect me as his teacher and I was able to earn his trust. It was a great win-win situation!

We believe the relationship between the student and the tutor must grow over time. With the foundation of trust, the student is encouraged and is not afraid to make mistakes because they know that it is a time to learn.

Look for teachers who makes you feel safe, who is not quick to put you down. Look for teachers who encourage you and push you to the best of your ability.
