Mrs. Powell laid the foundation for my love of English language and literature. With her guidance, I was able to excel in not only reading comprehension, but also vocabulary, grammar, and writing. I credit Mrs. Powell for teaching me the fundamentals of English language and fueling my passion for literature. With the skills she instilled in me during my formative years, I was able to go on and get nearly perfect scores on the SAT in the critical reading and writing sections. The time she put in teaching me everything she could encouraged me to believe in myself and succeed in all of my future endeavors.

She is was very encouraging and knowledgeable in a variety of subjects. She kept me motivated when the topics became more challenging, a skill not all teachers possess. Motivation is half the battle of learning. If you need an amazing tutor, look no further than The Wise Owl!

No, I do not.

Hereditary; I come from a family of educators.

Diverse group of ethnicities and backgrounds. Ages pre-school to adult. Even taught conversational English on an online platform to students in Beijing, China.

I host a reunion for my former students. This year we had it on Zoom. It was hard to host a party with so many people but we had fun. Guests said it made them happy.

Be honest in how to like to learn material/have it presented to you. Let your tutor know what genres you like - or don't. Reading should not be torturous.

Do I truly enjoy reading? If I don't, why? Are my interests different than what I am required to read?Do I think reading can be fun?
