What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Doing a diagnostic to assess the student's existing level of math knowledge. I will ask the student to be candid about his/her feeling about the math being studied. I will ask for the student's goals.

Be sure to establish a rapport with that person, and be open about your feelings of the math subject. Always feel free to ask questions and always expect to practice, practice.
