As part of my sessions I provide detailed notes on the progress of my students in order to keep track of their improvements and to guideline my instruction. These notes will also be sent to you for your review. Additionally, I create supplemental worksheets for an extra but low cost, which help enhance the students' learning experience and understanding of the material. I do this because I strongly believe tutoring services are not just for struggling students. Tutoring is about providing excellent academic services for the adavancement in knowledge for any purpose. Without a deep understanding of what you think you know, is hardly learning.
I went through tutoring as a child in gradeschool, not because my parents believed I was struggling, but because they believed that learning was a skill that can be mastered. Too often overlooked, discovering how your brain uniquely proccesses information makes learning so much more valuable. I also take pride in helping others feel confident about learning new and challenging things. Personally, math is exciting but not as much to others. Though, the satisfaction of seeing my students grow to enjoy math is what motivates me to teach.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before every session, I take at least an hour to prepare the material used to help the students. I take detailed notes for reference on the topics discusses and create practice questions.
My main priority is to make sure that students are comfortable with their personal way of learning. Therefore, at the beginnning of every session I allow the student 10 minutes to look through their own notes, to tell me excatly what they want to work on, or to ask me any questions.
Throughout the session, I consistantly ask for understanding to make sure that they are not lost or are feeling doubtful about the topic. Additionally, I do my best to use relatable examples that could help them improve their understanding.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
For the past 2 years, I have been working as a mathematics and statistics tutor/supplemental instructor for American University. A Supplemental Instructor is a position in which I work directly with an assigned professor to act as a personal tutor for their class. I hold private group study session as well as one-on-one tutoring to help the students in that class improve as much as possible. Supplemental Instructors are more esteemed than tutors since they are chosen based off rapport with previous professors, making them a "higher quality" tutor.

For lowerl-level math such as finite math, pre-algebra, and algebra I charge $20-$30 an hour.
For upper level math such as statistics and calculus I charge $30-$40 an hour.
