Hello there! My name is Michael Phan and I am currently an incoming college junior transferring to either UC San Diego or UC Berkeley for computer science!
I have deep passion for mathematics and teaching and I will do anything to help students reach their goals. I have been tutoring mathematics for two plus years and I am currently employed as a mathematics tutor at Mathnasium and have previously worked at Kumon. I currently teach all math up to Calculus as well as SAT/ACT math. Below is my mathematical achievements.
ACT math (out of 36): 35 99% percentile
SAT math (out of 800): 760 99% percentile
SAT subject test (out of 800): 800 80% percentile
Received a "5" (maximum score) on the AP Calculus AB Exam
"A"s in all my college level math classes including multivariable calclulus and linear algebar
Have competed in various math competitions

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first step in working with a student is accessing their current knowledge and academic goals. Then after that I create learning plans and/or lessons based on criteria. I will occassionaly assign self-made quizzes or tests to access student progress/knowledge. In additions I will show students techniques I acquired over the years from my knowledge and experience tutoring to help make the student understand the material better.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an academic tutor for over 2 years and have peered tutored for over 2+ years.
