    Frequently asked questions

As a tutor, my primary goal is to help you succeed and develop a solid understanding of the subject matter. Here's an overview of my typical process when working with a student: Assessment: I begin by assessing your current knowledge and understanding of the subject. This can involve discussing your goals, reviewing previous assignments or exams, or conducting a diagnostic test. Understanding your strengths and weaknesses helps me tailor my approach to your specific needs. Goal Setting: Once I have a clear understanding of your goals, we can establish specific objectives for our tutoring sessions. Whether it's improving grades, mastering specific topics, or gaining a deeper conceptual understanding, setting clear goals helps us stay focused and measure progress. Individualized Lesson Plans: Based on the assessment and goals, I create a personalized lesson plan that outlines the topics we'll cover and the learning strategies we'll employ. I'll break down complex concepts into manageable parts and provide step-by-step explanations to ensure you grasp each concept thoroughly. Interactive Learning: I believe in making learning interactive and engaging. During our sessions, I encourage you to ask questions, participate actively, and solve problems together. I provide examples, practice exercises, and real-life applications to reinforce your understanding and build confidence. Practice and Reinforcement: Practice is essential in mastering any subject, especially mathematics. I assign relevant exercises, problem sets, or practice tests to reinforce the concepts covered. I provide constructive feedback on your work and guide you through any areas of difficulty. Continuous Assessment and Feedback: Throughout our sessions, I continuously assess your progress and provide feedback on your performance. This helps me gauge your understanding and identify any areas that need further attention. I'm always open to your feedback as well, ensuring our tutoring sessions remain effective and tailored to your needs. Recap and Summarization: At the end of each session, I summarize the key points covered and ensure you have a clear understanding of the material. I may also provide study tips, additional resources, or recommend further practice to reinforce your learning outside of our sessions. Progress Monitoring: As we work together over time, I monitor your progress closely. We can review your grades, track improvements, and adjust our approach if needed. Celebrating milestones and successes along the way keeps motivation high. Remember, my role as a tutor is to support you in your learning journey. I'm here to clarify concepts, address your doubts, and provide guidance. Together, we'll work towards building your confidence, improving your skills, and achieving your academic goals.

During my time in college, I realized that I enjoyed helping other students understand what was going on in class. I began tutoring our athletes and teaching different math and criminal justice classes. Last summer, I spent an amazing time in Boston running a summer school program for 8th graders. After that, I moved to California to become a math teacher.
I have tutored over 100 students of all ages!
