I have been teaching English professionally for almost 5 years now, working with students of all ages! I tutored English and business courses at UC Berkeley for 2 years, helping students craft stores and arguments for persuasive and effective academic writing.
For the past 2 years, I have tutored students from the United States and China in SAT Reading and Writing, TOEFL and ESL, and SAT Literature Subject Tests at Think Tank Learning. Helping students become more proficient in their mastery of the English language is a real passion of mine!
I cater my tutoring sessions to the individual student by assessing how they learn most effectively! Getting to know the student and making them feel comfortable with the subject matter is also very important to a productive learning environment.
I graduated with Business Honors from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in 2017 (B.S. Business Administration, Disability Studies minor). I was a NCAA Division 1 Soccer Player and really involved in clubs on campus.

I really enjoy helping students start with a blank piece of paper and working through the writing process to turn in work they are really proud of. Helping students grow as writers and develop unique and interesting papers is very rewarding!
My philosophy when it comes to English tutoring is to guide students with a clear writing road map so they can argue their points and tell a story in any genre of writing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first session is all about getting to know the student and their expectations for our tutoring sessions. I ask lots of questions to not only learn about the student as a person, but also get a better udnerstanding for what type of learner they are. My job is to take their feedback and design my sessions to best help them accomplish their goals!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My hands-on teaching experience has helped me to develop my skills and education as a tutor. At UC Berkeley, we participated in weekly training sessions on how to best work with our students. This included guidance for engaging with students, the pedagogy of tutoring, and more specific writing intensive course work.
At Think Tank Learning, I completed a training program that advised me on how to best work with students preparing for standardized tests and was actually tested on my writing and reading skills to ensure students were being taught by qualified tutors.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $45 per hour for a session. This accounts for the the time put into the session itself, but also the work I do behind the scenes to prepare our lessons!
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring as an undergrad at UC Berkeley. I really enjoyed helping my peers in our classes, so I decided to help more students by working as an undergraduate tutor for student-athletes!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high schoolers and college students for test prep and academic writing.
I have also taught ESL students ranging from elementary school to adult learners.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My brother lives in a different state for college and getting to see him after nearly a year of being apart was a really special moment for me! We spent the day working out together and going to our favorite local restaurant.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who is going to take the time to understand your learning style and cater the sessions to your individual needs. If you are going to pay for tutoring, you want it to be really helpful and allow you excel in the subject!
