Hello! My name is Melanie, I am a math and science tutor in San Francisco, CA currently available remotely. I love working with students of all ages - I have experience teaching students in grades K-12, as well as tutoring middle school, high school, and college students. I am passionate about learning and I want to share my love for learning with you!
I have a PhD in Biophysics from Stanford University, and an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Oberlin College. I can teach all K-12 math and science, as well as college-level chemistry, biochemistry, statistics, and calculus.

I love working with students 1-on-1 and helping them learn! There is nothing like the joy of watching a student figure out something on their own.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I think it's really important to understand where the student is coming from in order to best know how to help them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Biophysics from Stanford University, and a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Oberlin College. I also worked for a year as a long-term substitute teacher in a middle school teaching math and science, and I have a California substitute teaching credential.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been tutoring students since I was in high school, when I tutored middle school students in math.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've tutored students in middle school, high school, and college in math and science, and I've also helped high school students with college applications.
