About
Working as a full-time educator and independent academic and test prep tutor in the South Bay area for the last seven years, I hold a B.S. in Physics, a Master's in Education, and am able to draw on over fifteen years of classroom teaching experience to offer my students a truly customized learning experience, designed with intention to elicit their unique strengths as learners, and have helped my clients to achieve superior results in various academic courses and entrance exams such as the SAT, ACT, and ISEE.
Although my areas of greatest expertise are test prep, advanced math and the physical sciences, I also have extensive experience guiding students through the development, drafting, and revision of personal statements and college admissions essays, and welcome students who are focused on improvement in those areas as well.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My experience as an educator has taught me that the key to helping a student meet their goals and achieve their best is to establish a genuine relationship with the individual student and give them ownership of their tutoring program. Consequently, much of the focus of my initial session with new student involves getting to know the student's interests, motivations, and learning style, and dialoguing with the student to establish goals and outline a plan to meet them. In order to set this foundation, I often recommend that the first session be a bit longer (90 minutes vs. 60, for example) so that we have time to build rapport, gauge the "fit" and still begin addressing content in whatever area the student is seeking to improve.
