Test Prep (SAT, AP) And English Tutor
About
I am a graduate of Williams College with a double major in psychology and music. I moved to the U.S. from South Korea at the age of 10, and I know first-hand what it is like to learn a new language from scratch. With this personal experience, I take a teaching approach that is accessible and relatable by many students.
My subjects of expertise include English writing, reading, and grammar (all levels), SAT (reading/writing and math), essay writing/editing (all levels, including college application) AP (Psychology, Music Theory), and piano/music lessons.
I have been through a very competitive college application process, and I understand very well the needs of students prepping for tests such as SAT and AP.
As a psychology major, I have done intensive research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, focusing on topics such as human learning. My passion for teaching and understanding the needs of students comes from my research and college experience. I value a holistic approach in a learning experience, and I work hard to create a friendly and comfortable environment for myself and my students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I enjoy getting to know the student not only through personal talks and check-ins, but also discussing the student's past learning experiences. By talking about what they like or did not like in the past, I learn to adapt to my new student's needs and work hard to fulfill their most comfortable learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Williams College as a Class of 2020, majoring in both psychology and music. I completed an honors senior thesis is cognitive psychology this year, and worked closely under my advisor as a psychology research assistant for two years and worked as a music teaching assistant . Through these accomplishments and roles, I learned to think critically and collaborate with many groups of people to teach, learn, and share skills and ideas.
Over the course of my studies in psychology, I focused especially on the cognition and psychology of education, learning and inquiring about students' individual differences in learning approaches.
As an immigrant to the U.S., I know first-handedly what it is like to learn a new language from scratch and how important it is to have an instructor that understands and fulfills one's needs. I hold this experience close to my heart when I teach various subjects to my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different groups of students--from teaching piano to a 4-year-old to tutoring a fellow college student neuroscience and psychology.
