About

I teach by creating individualized and fluid multi-sensory learning plans and using tools tailored to both the student and content at hand. I work by building on strengths, successes, and previous knowledge - which honors progress at the student's own pace and increases their motivation to learn - through trust-based leadership.

Supporting a student's learning is one of the greatest joys in my life. It is my passion to help a person overcome any obstacle or misperceptions they may have about their capabilities to learn and to empower them by handing them tools to break through the "ceiling" that has hindered the discovery and attainment of their dreams.

Amelia has been working with my daughter since she was a freshman in high school and now she is a senior. Amelia is an awesome tutor very knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond to help her students succeed! My daughter was struggling in Algebra and once she started tutoring with Amelia she was understanding it and gaining her confidence! Thank you Amelia

Amelia is great. She finds something a child can do and rises that potential. She is a tutor and a friend at the same time. For over three years my brother and sister are asking only for her as there tutor!

She is easy to work with in many ways from scheduling to just being easy to talk to about your Childs needs. My son absolutely just loves her. and he has many different disabilitys that make working with him challenge for most teachers and tutors, but she was a great asset to put in my sons corner. She loves working with children and helping them learn and understand what ever it is that they are working on. I will absolutely tell everyone I know that needs tutor that she is the go to tutor for your child.

Amelia is the perfect tutor! We tried several tutors until we found Amelia. Our child had special needs and a different learning style and Amelia was able to recognize that right away. She addressed the problems with my child’s learning difficulties and was able to customize a tutoring program that fit my child’s learning style. She is very well versed on all subjects and was able to provide tutoring to my child from elementary thru high school. My child graduated high school averaging between 3.5-4.0 GPA. She’s a very professional tutor that understands a positive learning environment and makes learning fun. I highly recommend her!

    Frequently asked questions

First, I speak with the parents by phone to get to know them, their tutoring goals, and their input on the student/s strengths and challenge areas. I also ask if there is any other key information regarding their student/s that would help make the first meeting a positive and comfortable one. Afterward, I introduce myself and share how I work as a tutor. Finally, I set up an initial appointment, either in person, by phone, or by zoom, as appropriate and mutually agreeable so that we can all meet. If it seems a good match to all, we talk about scheduling, strategies and material to reach the goals and questions the parents or student/s may have.

The student should consider the teacher's educational experience, work experience, experience in multisensory learning, and ability to be flexible in teaching in a way that the student receives.

Students should consider how to clearly communicate about what their needs are, any learning challenges they have, whether or not the teacher has any training or experience that will be help with their needs, how the teacher best engages with students, and when the teacher's availablity is
