About
I've always loved teaching others. Every summer I had the chance, I've been an English/ACT/math tutor. To me, tutoring is the method I can share the knowledge and skills I learned along the way to others, the same way older students had helped me.
Here are some of my achievements.
- I earned a 36/36 on my English ACT for a total composite score of 33.
- I am currently Editor of The Scripps College Journal and Writer for The Scripps Voice.
- On the weekends, I work as a Math/Reading tutor for the organization, Tutors For A Cause.
- The summer of 2018, I was an ESL tutor for international students grades 2-5 at Jiayao Education and Art Center.
- I placed 1st for narrative writing in the 2015 Chino Hills Citywide Annual Writing Contest.
- I placed 1st for digital art in the regional Scholastic Arts Annual Awards.
As a university student, I have the ability to step into younger students' shoes and understand how to help them peer-to-peer, because I have walked through the exact path they are on to get to where I am now.
If I can make a student say, "I've never thought about it this way before!" then I've done my job.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, the most important part of the process gaining a wholistic understanding the student. I like to know not only what they struggle with, but also the skills and topics they enjoy and take pride in. Before any sessions start, I like to meet with them and/or their parents in order to talk about their current situation and what they hope to accomplish. After setting our goals, we come up with a plan of action. Typically this comes in the form of a lesson plan and work outside of class to track their progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring every summer since high school. I currently am a tutor in The Claremont Colleges for the organization Tutors For A Cause, teaching math and reading to elementary students. I also taught international students ESL throughout the summer of 2018.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$25/hour is the general rate, but I'm here to be in touch before we even begin lessons. This way, both parents and students have the opportunity to get to know me.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching simply because I knew what it felt like to be helped when I was struggling most at school. I credit not only my teachers, but my peers, who stepped into my shoes and related to me as a fellow student.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary/middle school students, from grades 2nd to 8th grade. Recently I assisted high school juniors in ACT prep.
