About
Hello! My name is Annaliese, but I often go by Annie! 530-570-8388
I have 7 years of experience tutoring in different college Math Drop-In Labs, as well as providing private tutoring for both college and high school level students. I'm currently majoring in Applied Mathematics at Humboldt State, and am employed as a tutor through HSU's Math Lab.
I have familiarity with beginning level physics and chemistry, and am highly skilled in advanced levels of mathematics including: CA common core math, geometry, trigonometry, algebra 1 &2, college algebra, calculus 1-3, and differential equations.
I'm very comfortable working with all ages, since I have worked with many college student as well as having 8+ years of babysitting/nanny experience. I also served as Customer Experience Coordinator at TJ Maxx companies for 2 years, where I learned even more about how to provide a stellar experience to all customers.
I love tutoring because I love being able to provide help to all ages of students. Seeing a student's face light up because they were able to solve a problem on their own is what I live for. I have utilized tutoring myself when I'm struggling with classes, so I enjoy being able to turn around and apply my own knowledge to helping others in the same boat.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For working with someone new, I first have to gauge at what level they are at and try to figure out where/if there is a kknowledge gap in their learning that could help them with what they're stuck on. Then I help them practice as many of those problems as possible to really cement the knowledge, so they're able to become familiar with working with the idea/subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I receive my Bachelors in Applied Mathematics from Chico State in 2022.
Additionally, I worked as a tutor for Butte College, Humboldt State, and Chico State between the years of 2016-2022. At these institutions I worked in the drop-in labs, and also offered tutoring services to high school students in chemistry and algebra during that time
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge about $25-30 per hour depending on the subject.
I'm located in Chico, but willing to travel to any location within a 30 min drive of Chico for a differing cost depending on the location.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have primarily worked in the past with high school and college students, but love kids and am willing to work with younger children as well
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone whose teaching style you understand. It may take several teachers or tutors to find a new way of explaining something to a student in a way that finally allows them to understand the subject
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know what you are confused about. If you are simply confused by a whole problem, read what the book says about it and find where it stops making sense to you, then go ask the teacher about that part specifically. Also, try a couple of the problems first before having someone walk you through all the steps
