About
Welcome! Thank you for checking out my bio. I have had the pleasure of working in education as a teacher and administrator for the last 20 years. I have taught 3rd - 8th grades plus adults and loved all the age ranges! The last several years I have worked in school administration where my favorite part was creating an award-winning reading intervention program for an elementary school.
My career mission is to help students read better and feel better about their reading ability. As a parent, my daughter (now 14) was diagnosed with dyslexia in the 3rd grade. This has been such a focus for me personally and professionally that it became the subject of my dissertation from University of Southern California. I am now focusing this next chapter of my life to helping other families and children feel more successful with their education.
In the last several years, I have developed reading intervention strategies and programs to assess and address the different reading challenges students face including:
*Letter/sound identification
*Phonemic awareness
*Phonics
*Fluency
*Comprehension
*Reading difficulties which may include inability to blend, inconsistent site word identification, lack of fluency & comprehension
