About
After 30 years of service as a Math teacher with LAUSD, I
retired this spring. I am tutoring online,
either 1 on 1 or in a small group.
I’ve taught every math content area up through AP
Calculus, co-taught special education students for over 10 years, and I’m
well-versed with online teaching.
I will tutor in the following areas:
• Algebra 1 and 2
• Geometry
• Pre-Calculus
• AP Statistics and non-AP Statistics
• Intro to Data Science
• Middle School, High School, and College levels
I have been a Master Teacher with Math for America (MfALA) for 6
years, and am now an Emeritus Fellow. This means I will
continue to receive excellent professional development
monthly, and will be up-to-date with current practices and
technology to enhance student learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to provide the most positive and productive tutoring for you. Even though you are coming to get help in math and may feel a bit hopeless or confused, I actually hope to inspire and engender a love of math.
My expectations
· Bring work. If you have a problem written down with no work, or worse yet, blank paper, we are not going to be productive.
· Use time effectively. Try all problems on your own before you attend a session with me. Don’t erase or cross out anything you try. This will help me understand where you have misunderstandings.
· Do SOME homework ahead of time. If you are having trouble with a concept, work on only 1 or 2 problems. If you do all of them wrong, then you just practiced making mistakes.
· Tests. I will prepare you as best I can for test-taking, but I cannot help you with the test problems themselves. You must always show me the source/assignment of your work. After the test, I will help you with your misconceptions.
· Syllabus/schedule of work. As much as is possible, let me know timelines, access to your teachers’ website if applicable, and any other information that will help me help you.
