About
As a former Mathnasium instructor and private tutor for over 10 years, I've mastered the patience and skillsets needed to help middle and high school students improve their grades in math. Since every student learns in their own way, my tutoring sessions are tailored exactly to your needs and skill level.
What seperates me from other tutors is the time I dedicate outside of our scheduled sessions to ensure my students' success; I create custom study guides and step-by-step whiteboard instructional videos for my students, so they have access to the help they need anytime of the week!
I am a big believer that any student can do well in math. Math is a skill, and like any other skill, it takes practice, and most importantly, the right guidance.
That's where I come in!
The feeling of helping someone else succeed is truly priceless. Throughout my years of tutoring, I've come to realize that many students who struggle in math are already very bright, and very hardworking, they just need the right guidance to reach that "A-ha!" moment.
Being fortunate enough to be in a position where I can be that missing piece of the puzzle, is the reason I continue to work hard for my students every week.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first session, my goal with a new student is just to get to know them and for us to get comfortable working together. I'll ask them about their interests, how school is going, and what they think of math.
We will then dive into some problems they have to do for homework, or I can always supply the work problems on my end.
My goal after the first session is to make my students experts at completing and studying their math homework.
If you know the homework well, and you practice the homework well, you will do well on the test!
Our sessions will be devoted to completing homework together, and going over all the difficult concepts and explaining them in a language that you'll actually understand!
I then will make custom study guides and step-by-step videos for my student so all the concepts we learned in our session are reinforced throughout the week as they study.
Organization and test taking tips are also discussed and practiced!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While working as a Mathnasium instructor, I became certified in the Mathnasium Method, including 'Socratic Questioning', which has helped me to teach students the fundamental skills they need to be successful in math every year and at every grade level.
Combined with my private tutoring, I can proudly say that I've tutored over 100 students one-on-one throughout my career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Due to world events, I've been tutoring students online using a combination of Skype or Zoom, and an online real-time collaborative whiteboard, where students can see me writing on screen, which helps to emulate a real time classroom.
My tutoring sessions are $60. Sessions range from 60 to 90 mins, depending on the needs of the student that week.
Throughout the week, I offer custom step-by-step study guides and instructional videos to help students with their homework problems and to preapre for upcoming tests. I can also supply students with new problems for extra practice!
How did you get started teaching?
What began as a way to earn community service hours, transformed into a part-time job.
Throughout my four years of high school, I tutored students after school one-on-one and in groups during teacher office hours. I worked closely with my math instructor to work with students privately outside of school, and over the years I built up a network of students and started my own private tutoring business.
I then worked as a Mathnasium instructor to broaden my tutoring skills and to get the chance to work with students of all ages.
Today, I tutor in private sessions.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages over the years. From 6th graders in Pre-Alegbra, all the way to Seniors in Trig/Pre-Calculus.
My expertise is in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Trigonmetry/Precalculus.
Tutoring a diverse age range of students over the years has tremendously helped me to understand what essential skills are needed at each age in order to be successful in the years to come.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My proudest moment as a tutor was helping an Algebra 2 student go from a letter grade of D to an A- in a matter of 3 months. It made me realize that many students are already hardworking and bright, they just need a little help to have that 'a-ha!' moment. It was a great feeling and honor getting to help that student succeed.
