I came from a family of teachers so I would say that teaching is in our genes. I have 22 years teaching experience in high school and university level math courses which includes Calculus, Statistics, Precalculus, Algebra 2, Geometry, Algebra 1, and Prealgebra. I am currently a mentor and coach to math teachers.
I am a credentialed Math teacher in California and hold two masters degrees in Mathematics and in Educational Leadership.
I enjoy watching lightbulbs light up inside my students’ heads every time they understand a math concept. That is the greatest joy of a math teacher. And I aim to achieve that every time I teach.
I also truly believe that everyone can learn math. It is a societal issue that somehow it is acceptable to not be "good" in math which is a disservice to our students. So I am also addressing this issue and the issue of math anxiety when I am teaching a student in a one-on-one setting. I aim to develop my students' perseverance to solve math problems, and to develop confidence in themselves that they can and will learn math.
