About

Hi all! My name is Gabrielle, I’m a current junior at UC Berkeley. I have tutored for 4+ years in high school and middle school level courses. My biggest goal is not only to help these students get their grades up, but to help them get excited and confident about raising their grades. I do this through finding their unique learning style, be that through visual aid, games, or formal review. Before particularly difficult exams, I tend to create rapid review sheets for them to get a holistic glance of the material and any tips, tricks, and shortcuts we’ve covered during our sessions. My students enjoy not only a tutor invested in boosting their understanding and engagement with the class, but also a friend whom they can ask for advice and support when it comes to classes or college concerns.

Frequently asked questions

Setting up a quick meeting with both the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss about the material they're covering, how their classes are organised, chat about pay rate, and to answer any questions they might have about me or my background.

I'm an intended double-major at a top University of California who graduated two years early from high school. I've taken classes up to AP Calculus BC, AP Literature, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, and AP Biology. Throughout middle and high school, I volunteered to teach younger students at elementary schools and have been a mentor at an educational summer program.

As an accelerated student, many of my elementary friends ended up in the grade below me throughout high school. Thus, any of their classes, I would've already gone through. I never turned down an opportunity to help someone understand class material especially if it was in a domain I was well acquainted with. It's my main philosophy that, with strong support, anyone can achieve great results in school.

I've worked with young elementary students in a volunteer setting to teach basic mathematics, spelling, etc. I've also helped middle schoolers informally but mainly teach high school students.

Look for someone who has a strong background in it or might be currently studying the material (if they are still in school).

I don't think students should ever feel inhibited to ask questions, even if they're recap questions posed to check their understanding. Teachers are there to help you learn and do your best. As a tutor, I'd even appreciate it if my student would interrupt and ask a question. I'm there to help them with every misunderstanding or any confusion.
