Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During our first session I assess the students understanding of the subject and identify which areas we need to focus on. I will then devise a personalized learning plan for my student and start taking immediate steps in helping my student understand the subject matter better and therefore enjoy the learning process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently working as a full-time freelance tutor at Sky Tutoring Services. I began working for my start-up tutoring business as a teaching consultant in January 2010. I am a motivated and energetic USC alumnus (Graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering) and UCBerkeley graduate (B.S. Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My sessions are all 2 hours long and the rate is $100 per hour so it will be $200 for the 2-hour session.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from various age groups and subject levels from elementary school to graduate school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your homework and don't hire someone because they charge a cheaper rate. Carefully examine the teacher's background, qualifications, and experience in teaching.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The students should communicate as well as they can what they feel like is missing in their education and why they feel like seeing a private tutor can be a good solution. If a student is really committed to learning, it makes the whole learning process easier and more fun.
