I am a reliable tutor who's inspired by helping students grow to overcome their own obstacles. I have experience working with kids of all ages for the last 6 years, from elementary school to college level, and my background includes one-on-one sessions, group tutoring, home school support, and employment through college tutoring departments.
I'm patient and understanding to the varying learning styles of different students, and aim to foster a growth-mindset that supports and provides them with the tools they need to live up to their greatest potential.
My tutoring approach emphasizes organizational/study skills such as note taking, assignment planning, and time management. For older students I mostly work within the humanities or any kind of reading/writing related support--from analyzing literature or articles, to structuring persuasive essays, to doing research papers. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The student and I (or potentially the guardian) will discuss what areas the student has been struggling with and how they are feeling about it, then identifying what they think has been getting in the way of their success and how we can best form a plan to address these obstacles to be most productive.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Mills College with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Humanities and Critical Thought.
Previously, I was certified by Cuesta Colleges DSPS Tutoring Department.

$45-$55/hour, sliding scale.
