About
A first-generation Latina that is both bilingual and bi-literate, I have been teaching high school English for 9 years. I have had success in both cultivating strong teacher to student relationships that have resulted in investing students in writing, reading, and critical thinking. I especially love teaching writing!
Additionally, I have experience teaching in a dual immersion bilingual program for elementary school.
I have experience in tutoring for the ACT, AP Literature, AP Language and personal statement writing.
I enjoy being a part of students' academic growth that also contributes to their personal development. Interacting with students brings me joy and motivates me. Being a teacher and tutor is a constant reminder to constantly model what it looks like to be a life-long learner.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In order for a student to grow their skills, it is important to know where we are starting! This is why I start our work together with a short meeting to discuss habits, academic skills, interests, student goals, and a student's feelings about school.
Additionally, I start with a brief diagnostic to see what skills the student is strong in and which they have room for growth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a credentialed secondary English teacher with 9 years of experience in the classroom and about 15 years of experience as a tutor.
I have tutored students of all ages, including adults, in multiple subjects.
