About

I have been tutoring professionally since I started teaching in 2006. I love working with people and seeing there expressions when difficult or fustrating concepts finally click. With my extensive math background I take a very basic approach and explain the complex world of math using everyday language because math is it's own language.

B.S. in Mathematics, B.A. in Psychology, Teaching Certification Program

Currently, I teach 9th grade Algebra 1 and 12th grade Financial Algebra. Previously, I have taught middle school through pre-calculus.

State of Arizona AIMS tutor (when it was AIMS)

I have tutored veteran's through school on the GI Bill, ASVAB test takers, College Students, AP high school students, and general education students from 3rd grade to 12th.

Math is intimidating enough, the tutor shouldn't be.

The excitement and satisfaction of understanding.

Frequently asked questions

Typically, I do an assessment to get an idea of there skill level and any holes that need to be addressed. Before we meet I usually communicate via email or text to get an idea of there struggles, frustrations, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc. However, in higher level math courses it is usally just the correspondence before hand so I have an idea of what we need to focus on. Then there is usually a brief explaination of material, some practice problems, and refinement as we go.

Ex: High School Algebra @ home office or nearby library $40/hr

This in of itself is a lesson in math, as multiple variables change so does price.

I started in 5th grade when I started helping other students. Really, it started in college when I was a T.A. After that, I realized the impact of my parents both being teacher's had on me and how much I like helping people. In 2006, I started tutoring and teaching at a small charter school and even to this day I still keep in contact with my former students and it is such a treasure.
