Over the five years that I've taught children, I have found that children who struggle tend to think learning is only hard work. Using games and activities to ignite their natural curiosity, over time, they discover that learning can actually be fun!
I find immense satisfaction as students gain skills they didn't have before and build upon the natural talents they already have -- especially when they notice the difference in themselves. Most of the students begin class thinking they are less than they are because they aren't good at a certain subject. Not only does their confidence in their skills grow but also their self-esteem.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Along with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, I have taught children for over five years. Before working at Smart Homes Tutoring, I taught English one-on-one at VIPKID for three years. I am also certified with TESOL VIPKID.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40 for a 30-minute session and $50 for 45-60 minute sessions.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching in high school to a friend who wanted to learn piano. As she progressed, I found I had a knack for explaining concepts simply. It snowballed from there, and I continued teaching throughout college and into my career.
What types of students have you worked with?
While the majority of my students have been between the ages of eight and eleven, I have also taught teenagers and adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I had to say goodbye to a student I have taught three times a week for the past three years. As I've reflected on our time together, I can barely believe the change she has gone through. She has gone from speaking only simple sentences in English to having fluent conversations where she can effectively explain complex ideas. She has worked diligently to improve, and her curiosity has grown. She has discovered that learning is fun.
While I'll miss seeing her so often, I know she will accomplish great things.
