Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet with a student I like to assess their gaps in their learning by reviewing and seeing what they know and what they still need to learn. I like to work with the student with their school's curriculum to keep them on track with what they are learning. If more practice is needed I will use other resources.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a math teacher. I have taught for 7 years and have and been tutoring for 6 years. For math, I can help your student understand the fundamentals of the math language, number sense, decode word problems, find gaps in their learning, help prepare for exams by helping with time management and strategies and help students understand the value of problem-solving and practice. Math is a science to be learned over time.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 to $60 per hour depending on tutoring needs, math level, and location.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with Elementary through high school.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should not be afraid to ask questions and know that it is ok if they don't understand a concept and need extra support.
