Miss Close's Tutoring
About
I am currently a 2nd grade teacher. I am certified from kindergarten through high school in both regular education and special education. I am passionate about education and my students show that same energy as well.
I offer any tutoring in Math, reading, or writing. Within those subjects, we can expand upon science or social studies. I love to use the computer and the unlimited resources it can provide. Typically I tutor anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours.
I have been pursuing a career in teaching for as long as I can remember. I love helping people reach their potential and show an independent attitude towards learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have some small assessments depending on the subject to decide where exactly to begin. After, I will speak with the student or the parents about the goals and what they hope will come of the tutoring. Then, we begin with activities and lessons I provide. I can also assign independent work and homework.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified K-12 teacher. I currently teach 2nd grade.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am pretty flexible with pricing. For Tutoring in the past, I have charged $25/hour. If necessary we can work out a payment plan or something that works for you!
How did you get started teaching?
I was fortunate enough to be inspired by many teachers in my life. Which is why I went into the profession in the first place. I love my job and I want to help all students even outside of my classroom.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with general education students and special education students. I am familiar with differentiating my strategies so I can reach all students. I can work with young or older students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you know what you are looking to get out of the tutoring. Making and setting goals are a part of the process and can help you extend past the limits of tutoring.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask for the teacher's expectations as well. Teachers are human and often times students do not ask what they are really feeling. No question is off limits when asking about your education.
