I have a great passion for math and Computer Applications and am dedicated to helping students reach their goals. I have been a math and computer applications teacher in Singapore for 3 years. Even though I have never been to college, students and their parents have always praised me for being a good teacher and for helping students understand math concepts that they did not understand before. I try to set affordable rates for my lessons because I want as many people as possible to understand and apply math and computer applications in their daily lives.
It is pure joy to me when a student understands a concept he or she did not know before. I like to transform a student's understanding so that he or she will have success in the real world.
My regular math teacher was okay but sucks when teaching online, so I wanted an affordable tutor who could teach me math better online. I chose Matthew Math and he helped me with my study guides and the homework problems I didn't understand which gave me confidence that I would do well on tests and quizzes, and that been true to date.
My son was struggling with math that he almost got held back a grade. I decided to find a tutor for him and chose Matthew Math due to the affordable rate he was charging. Matthew Math is a good value for money. He was interested in my son's hobbies and linked them with math. As a result, my son has transformed from a F student to a B student in math class.
Math class was always the downside of my day but this tutor makes math fun. He is not the teacher that resorts to dumb games, but instead makes math itself fun by demonstrating how practical it is in everyday life.
Honestly, I have never met a tutor like Matt before. He is very engaging and makes math seem logical and straightforward. He isn't overly firm but can be funny when giving analogies for concepts I struggle with. My grades have also improved with this tutor. I used to be the worst student in my class, but I am now at the top 50%.
I try to understand why the student got a tutor in the first place. Understanding this will help me to determine how motivated the student is and how I should approach the student. I also like to know my students' hobbies and interests so I can apply math to their daily life.
I have taken Algebra I and II, High School Geometry, and have had experience with MS Powerpoint, MS Word, and MS Excel. I have also learned mental math skills with Professor Arthur T. Benjamin of Harvey Mudd College.
The price is very negotiable depending on the length of the session, how many sessions the customer agrees to, financial situation, and how often I must tutor.
I was inspired by my mother who was also a tutor and teacher.
All types of 10,11,12 and 13-year-olds. I have worked with students who are not motivated at all to students who consider math their hobby. I have worked with F students, A students, and students in between.
Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, don't judge a teacher completely by his or her resume. What makes a tutor truly amazing can not be expressed with words. The teacher must instead be experienced firsthand. A resume can't demonstrate a teacher's communication skills, but having the teacher teaching you can.
What do I want my teacher to know about me?
