IvyMath Tutoring
About
I really enjoy tutoring students. I have worked at KUMON Math and Reading Center as an Instructor for 4 years, helping students with math topics as advanced as advanced calculus. I will help students any way I can: helping them with homework, creating practice problems, teaching new concepts in a classroom format, etc.
What I enjoy most is helping students reach their full potential.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In my first session, I typically take about 20 minutes getting to know the student and introducing myself to the student and his or her parents. I then gather some information regarding what topics the student is learning in school, what his or her grades are currently, and identify specific areas in which I can help the student improve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been an Instructor at KUMON Math and Reading Center for 4 years now. I tutor students from ages 4-18 on math topics from basic addition and subtraction to advanced calculus. I also mentor new hires and help lesson plan for students.
How did you get started teaching?
I finished AP Calculus AB in 8th Grade and also completed the KUMON Program that year. I was subsequently offered a job to begin tutoring there my 8th grade summer, and I accepted.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages on everything from addition to calculus.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to find someone who is not too much older than you. It will make for a much better tutor-tutee relationship and make the sessions more light-hearted and fun in general.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would ask students to come to sessions with some general idea of what topics they need assistance with. I will narrow down the specific areas in the sessions, and use homework, practice problems I create, and classroom-style teaching sessions (it is up to the student if they would like a classroom-style session) to assist them.
