About
I have been teaching and mentoring kids and young adults for over 10 years. In 2018, I completed my first website with the mission of elevating STEM education in the US. Please read my mission statement: http://stemeritus.com
In addition, I have two teenage boys whom my wife homeschools. One is in the 8th grade, and the other is a sophomore in High School. I very much enjoy helping them with math and science.
I enjoy working as an electrical engineer in the Aerospace Industry, (rocket science to be specific). The projects I get to work on are exciting and challenging, but especially interesting to me are the opportunities for inspiring young people to pursue STEM in their education choices.
As an engineer working for Northrop Grumman, I help to develop small- and medium-class space launch vehicles for civil, military and commercial missions including NASA. Every day I come to work is an adventure. My passion is sharing this adventure in all aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask the student, or parents, about strengths and weaknesses in a subject in order to determine how best to target the tutoring. I also like to know if distractions are an issue, such as class size, social media and other influences that may hinder a student's learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three technical degrees from major US universities:
1. Bachelor's degree in Physics
2. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (graduated Summa Cum Laude)
3. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
Currently, I am employed by Northrop Grumman in Chandler, AZ as an electrical engineer working in the Mil-Aerospace industry. I use mathematics every day at my job to solve engineering and scientific problems.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a standard pricing system, but try to price at the mean range typical in tutoring math and science.
How did you get started teaching?
I've been tutoring and mentoring young engineers and scientists for over 20 years, and now wish to expand my tutoring to one-on-one and group sessions.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught and mentored students from the 3rd grade through early career professionals, (mid 20's). I really enjoy teaching at all levels, especially Jr. High and High School math and science.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I created my first website and completed it in early 2019: https://stemeritus.com. The emphesis of this site is to elevate STEM education in the US.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to seek a teacher with on-the-job experience, in addition to the basic qualifications of the subject matter. In this way, real life examples can add to the learning process.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
#1: Does the teacher relate well to students?
#2: Does the teacher genuinely care about their students and their performance in school?
#3: Is the teacher patient and kind, and will they stay committed to helping the student achieve higher grades?
